Driving and rest times are the EU-wide maximum driving hours and minimum breaks and rest for professional drivers under Regulation (EC) No 561/2006. They determine how far a truck can travel in a day.
Core rules: at most 9 hours' driving per day (10 hours twice a week), at most 56 hours per week and 90 hours in two weeks; a break of at least 45 minutes after 4.5 hours (can be split into 15 + 30 minutes).
Rest: daily rest at least 11 hours (reducible to 9 hours three times a week), weekly rest 45 hours (reducible to 24 hours every second week, with compensation).
